'Taste of North Shore' Held to Benefit Cancer Walk (Lynn Daily Item)

PEABODY - Hundreds of people turned out Wednesday for North Shore Medical Center's (NSMC) "Taste of the North Shore" event, which was held in the Acura of Peabody showroom. Proceeds from the event will benefit the 20th annual North Shore Cancer WALK - the largest single-day fundraising event on the North Shore of Massachusetts. The WALK, which has raised $15 million since its inception in 1991, will be held this year on Sunday, June 20 in Salem.

The "Taste of the North Shore" featured generous food samples donated by local restaurants and caterers including Bruce D. Silverlieb Party Specialists, Finz, Henry's, Legal Sea Food, Pellana, Red Rock Bistro and Bar, Salem Waterfront Hotel and Suites, Sixty2 on the Wharf, Treadwell's of Peabody, and The Blue Ox.

Janet Wu of WHDH-TV Boston emceed the event and live music was provided by the Common Thread Jazz Trio, who have opened for B.B. King. Live and silent auctions, held by General Electric, included items such as GE appliances, a house rental in Jamaica, Red Sox tickets, a two-night stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel including dinner and much more.

"We are very excited about the Taste of the North Shore event. This is our first time doing this and (was) a fun way to get people excited about the North Shore Cancer WALK," said Roselyn Fisher, special events associate for North Shore Medical Center. "For many people, the WALK is not just a one-day event, but something they would like to support year-round. We are fortunate that so many restaurants from all over the North Shore are participating in this event. Our committee members have worked hard to create a delicious and entertaining evening."

Event participants were also be able to register for the North Shore Cancer WALK, a 6.2 mile route through the storied streets of Salem.

The WALK features an array of entertainment and refreshment breaks, making the day a fun and entertaining family-friendly event.
